October Practitioner Q & A

Q. We are looking for an IT solution for our MASH can E-CINS help?

A. The simple answer is yes and it’s use will enhance the work of the MASH. As you will know MASH sees professionals from Children’s Services, Police, Education and Health sitting alongside one another, with their respective IT systems. In some ways this is a very similar multi-agency set up to Integrated Offender Management (IOM) Teams. Using E-CINS for IOM has already seen significant results as well as time and efficiency savings.

The problem that is raised in almost every serious case review, is a lack of information sharing and this is where E-CINS comes into its own. By using E-CINS the MASH will benefit from the ‘window into the community’ that the system provides and practitioners will be working in an environment where everyone knows what everyone else is doing. Staff within the MASH will also be able to take advantage of the muti-agency tasking functionality which speeds up processes and reduces duplication of effort and resources.

Organisations involved in the MASH working across Counties, Boroughs, Cities or Council Districts can take advantage of the E-CINS no limits policy and enhance those virtual links to the Youth Offending Team, Domestic Abuse Teams, Probation; Children’s and Adults’ mental health; housing; and even the ambulance service. E-CINS can act simply as a sign posting tool highlighting who is working or involved with an individual or family or it can be used as a complete case management system. An important point to note is that the comprehensive access permissions mean that sensitive information can be ‘locked’ down and not seen by anyone other than selected staff within the MASH.

We will be featuring IOM Teams that use E-CINS in next months edition of Partnership Breakthroughs. If you need access to the demo system before then please contact the E-CINS Team on 01502 537719 of email me gary@empowering-communities.org
